LESSON 5.5 · 2:24 · CHAPTER 5 · PATTERNS
Tiny errors add up
The pattern is a long chain of circuits: a per-circuit error is multiplied by the circuit count. 0.011° per circuit over 443 circuits is 4.9°, about two band widths on a 300 mm vessel with a 6 mm band at 20°.
Predict · at 0:47 in the video
0.011 degrees per circuit, over 443 circuits. How far off is the last band?
Almost five degrees. 0.011 times 443 is 4.9. On a 300 millimetre vessel, that's nearly 13 millimetres around the equator.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
