LESSON 7.5 · 1:50 · CHAPTER 7 · WARP AND DESIGN
Overhang is a step per layer
Each layer steps out by layer height × tan(angle); keep the step under about a third of the bead width.
Predict · at 0:28 in the video
A bead 20.3 millimetres wide and 5.1 high. What wall angle keeps the step at 35 percent of the width?
About 54 degrees from vertical. 35 percent of 20.3 is 7.1 millimetres. Over 5.1, that's a tangent of 1.4.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
