LESSON 7.1 · 1:54 · CHAPTER 7 · WARP AND DESIGN
Warp grows with length squared
A wall whose top shrinks more than its bottom bends like a beam, and the bow grows with length squared.
Predict · at 0:32 in the video
A two metre carbon fibre ABS wall, 0.3 metres tall, bows 0.7 millimetres. What does a four metre wall of the same height bow?
About 2.8 millimetres. Four times as much. Twice the length, squared, is four.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
