LESSON 8.7 · 1:47 · CHAPTER 8 · MACHINES, PATHS AND MACHINING
Seeing the bead
A laser line scanner turns each layer into a height map, and the next pass fills the low spots.
Predict · at 0:30 in the video
A layer comes out half a millimetre low over one metre of a 20 millimetre bead. How much extra must the next pass add there?
Ten cubic centimetres. Half a millimetre, times a metre, times 20 millimetres. About eleven grams.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
