LESSON 8.2 · 1:57 · CHAPTER 8 · MACHINES, PATHS AND MACHINING
Tilt the layer, not the part
A multi-axis head can tilt the slicing plane so a steep overhang becomes a gentle step.
Predict · at 0:34 in the video
A three millimetre layer, a 6.6 millimetre bead, and a 60 degree wall. What's the step per layer sliced flat? And with the layer plane tilted 45 degrees?
5.2 millimetres flat. 0.8 tilted. Flat, the step is 79 percent of the bead.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
