LESSON 6.1 · 2:19 · CHAPTER 6 · CHOOSING AND HANDLING A MATERIAL
The name is the cure
Tool resins come in a ladder set by the cure they must survive: ABS for room temperature, PC for 121 °C (250 °F), PEI and PESU for 177 °C (350 °F).
Predict · at 0:43 in the video
A prepreg cures at 177 degrees. Carbon fibre PC has a heat deflection temperature of 144. A high-heat PC, 181. PEI, 212. PESU, 215. Which have real margin?
Only PEI and PESU. They clear 177 by about 35 degrees. The high-heat PC clears it by four.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
