LESSON 5.5 · 2:03 · CHAPTER 5 · WHAT'S IN THE PELLET
Z is just the matrix
Fibres lie in the layer, so nothing crosses between layers except polymer that had a short time to weld.
Predict · at 0:29 in the video
Big area printing, tensile strength. Neat ABS: 36 megapascals along the bead, 27 across the layers. Add 20 percent carbon fibre, and the bead direction goes up to 67. Guess Z.
8.2 megapascals. About eight times weaker than along the bead. And weaker across the layers than plain ABS.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
