LESSON 5.2 · 2:04 · CHAPTER 5 · WHAT'S IN THE PELLET
Where the fibres point
Nozzle shear lines up the shell of a big bead, but the core flows as a plug and stays nearly random.
Predict · at 0:40 in the video
On a desktop printer, carbon fibre ABS has an orientation value of about 0.9 along the print, where one is perfect and a third is random. What is it at the centre of a large format bead?
About 0.36. Almost random. A third would be fully random.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
