LESSON 4.7 · 2:08 · CHAPTER 4 · LAYER TIME AND THE WELD
Big parts can be worse than small ones
Layer time is perimeter over speed, so a small part comes round too soon and a huge one too late; both fall outside the window.
Predict · at 0:36 in the video
Both at 200 millimetres a second, with a window of about two minutes: a 1 metre diameter cylinder, and a 61 metre lap round a long gantry bed. Which one falls outside, and which way?
Both. The cylinder laps in 16 seconds. Far too soon: it slumps.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
