LESSON 4.4 · 2:01 · CHAPTER 4 · LAYER TIME AND THE WELD
Near Tg, time almost stops
Chain mobility falls off a cliff as the interface approaches its glass transition, so a few tens of degrees matter more than the seconds.
Predict · at 0:37 in the video
With ABS's constants, how much slower do chains move at 150 degrees than at 230?
About 1,200 times slower. The equation gives a log factor of 3.08: ten to the 3.08 is about 1,200. And at 110 degrees, about eight million times slower.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
