LESSON 6.6 · 1:48 · CHAPTER 6 · THE MACHINE AND THE CELL
Cure sets the pace
Winding takes minutes, curing an hour. With parts curing on their mandrels, the number of oven stations (and mandrels) needed to keep one winder busy is cure time over wind time: 60/4 = 15.
Predict · at 0:35 in the video
Winding 4 minutes, cure 60. How many oven stations keep one winder busy?
Fifteen. A new part arrives every 4 minutes, and each one stays an hour. 60 over 4.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
