Black aluminium
Copying a metal part in quasi-isotropic carbon at the same thickness makes it softer than the aluminium (55 against 74 GPa); carbon only beats it along the load when the fibres are aimed at that load.

Same thickness. Quasi-isotropic carbon, or the aluminium: which one is stiffer?
The aluminium. About 74 against 55 gigapascals. That's what people mean by black aluminium: a metal design, made in carbon.

The course designs in AddPly, our browser app for laminate design: regions, ply stacks with live stacking-rule checks, thickness, mass and the ply book. It does not do strength, failure or draping; where a lesson covers those, the simulation is our own.
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Ply data come from the datasheet or textbook named on screen; where a number rests on an assumption, the video says so.
