LESSON 9.4 · 1:43 · CHAPTER 9 · TOOLS, RECYCLING AND WHAT'S NEXT
Recycling isn't free
Regrinding shortens the fibres, so the bead direction loses, but the shorter-fibre melt can weld better between layers.
Predict · at 0:28 in the video
Carbon fibre ABS machining scrap is reground and reprinted. What happens to strength along the bead, and across the layers?
Along the bead, weaker. Across the layers, stronger. Along the bead, 11 percent weaker, and 31 percent less stiff.

About the numbers
Simulations in this lesson are our own. Where a number rests on an assumption or a single source, the video marks it with an asterisk and says where it comes from.
